Forepaugh mansion has a beautifully preserved Victorian "Painted Lady" timber barons, railroad barons and retail giants have been built in the hey days. Joseph Lybrandt Forepaugh second half and made her first St. Paul home was on Exchange Street. And that era, like many other old houses, it fell ill over a long period of repair until purchased by the current owners in 1983 and loved the original inhabitants of the century's turn to restore prosperity. The restaurant at a time when Victoria was as a design theme. WA frost giant oak doors just opened its neighbors and across the river before Winfield Potter was wowing guests with the ornate wood and glass are. Blue Horse Restaurant and Chouette like everyone's top ten list was the name Charlie's Cafe Exceptionale memory still fresh in the collective consciousness was baking. Fine dining Beef Wellington, Coquille St. Jacques and had roast duck al orange. Mobile phones were the size of small children, were low-def TV and Ronald Reagan in the Oval Office was munching jelly beans. I first visited the restaurant before Forepaugh restaurant opened twenty years ago. I had not been back since and when I went into the night felt like I had not changed. And that was a good thing.

Forepaugh caught in some kind of double time warp. Environment purposely to help us relive a time and place and maintained. And menus, although partially updated for 21st century tastes, still a time when food rich element, was condescending and could have been better to be continental. Also a good thing. Food is well prepared and service is impeccable. And all I'm going to say about it. An experience where the amount is certainly higher than it's parts. I can recommend it? Course. It is one which anyone remember what food was like twenty years ago or someone who thinks there is still a connection to your past that you can experience the same food in the environment need to needed to do. It is a virtual experience, it is real. However I feel as if I were dressed under the 1980 standards. I was in slacks and a shirt. A guy in our group for the time required to wear ties and jackets, but not one woman was in a dress. We are today, I thought an interesting comment on. Women looked great though! (Yes, I mean)

Group I was with the way I always had food brigade. I was in Chicago the city to give lectures on magic had met an old friend. His name is Eugene Burger. He is a master at close and has taught hundreds of magicians around the world. I hired Eugene and for that I have been involved in restaurant work in several of the many disciples. Close up magic for restaurants is a great form of entertainment. It is quiet, the adults and children's entertainment and live your cheap. Wizard work mostly for tips. Move so to speak, to the great story tellers that slight of hand skills are getting better. Poor, ostentatious magician who twist balloon animals, I turn off the restaurant patrons as well. Eugene is a great story teller. He his magic pen and my usual partner Taylor Sigfreid, and Roy, Doug Henning and David Copperfield, all wizards have worked with someone he or consult with stories about his career as well as fascinated with stories.
